Covid-19 Update

Dear WPD families,

As always, our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients and families – we truly love our patients as if they are our own children so in this unprecedented time, we are deeply concerned about you all.

Fortunately, we have not had a patient present at our office with the coronavirus. In addition, our practice continues to undertake all of OSHA’s best practices for infection prevention and control as part of our normal, daily routine. We have also been taken extra precautions with removing toys, limiting overlap in appointments, and constant wiping down of all surfaces in the office. In truth, our dental office is probably one of the most sanitary facilities you could be in.

However, even with the best infection control practice, dentistry, by its inherent high-risk for aerosols, is a potential vector for spreading the Covid-19 virus. In addition, it is now known that individuals including children can be carriers of the virus for a certain window of time with mild or no symptoms.

After much deliberation and review of all the currently available data, we have decided to close the office temporarily for at least the next 2 weeks, 3/16-3/29. The closure will be in accordance with and help to enforce the social distancing recommended by the CDC. We all need to do our part in FLATTENING THE CURVE NOW, potentially saving our hospital resources for the sickest among us.

We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine on a weekly basis when it is safe for us to return to our normal business hours. As always anyone with a dental emergency can call 203-529-1242 and reach us via the emergency inbox.

Stay safe and healthy and we look forward to taking care of all of your WPD smiles very soon.
